Making AC Shelby Cobra windscreens

Windshields fitted to Shelby AC cobras were traditionally made from chrome plated brass.  The extrusions are shaped to fit the glass and to follow the body line of the cars along the scuttle.  
There is a surprising of amount subtle details in an original style screen, all of which need to be replicated precisely and carefully to get a top quality product.

OE Spec plus screens are handmade in the UK using traditional methods but with some carefully hidden upgrades.  Inside your screen, hidden from view between the glass and the frame are 4 brackets that hold the screen together and provide the stanchion to frame mountings.  These were traditionally made in brass but if not used carefully the threads can strip.  OE Spec screens use upgraded stainless steel for these brackets.

The glass is held in place using a simple flat piece of rubber, forced between the glass and the frame, and then cut to form a chamfer.  OE Spec uses a custom made silicone gasket that fits the screen and glass correctly and are longer lasting and more UV stable.

Stanchions are final shaped using a CNC router to ensure absolute accuracy.
