AC Shelby Cobra Windscreen

UK manufactured AC Shelby Cobra chromed brass windscreens made to original specifications in our UK facility.   Available in a range of frame finishes and glass options. 

Screens typically available from stock in chrome with either clear or green tinted glass.   Heated screens normally to order on a week leadtime.

Our screens are manufactured in house at OE Spec in the UK, to accurately reproduce the original screen whilst improving some key but hidden points such as stainless internal assembly brackets and customised glazing gasket to create a neat seal and make glass replacement simple.

Specification & Installation

Customisable Screens

Chrome screens with either clear or tinted glass are considered standard options, normally either in stock or in build.  However your screen can be also specified in a range of custom build options. 

The frame and stanchions can be ordered either in black or a custom RAL powdercoat.

In addition glass can be specified as a tinted heated screen to avoid the need for a demister blower for IVA.

Simply build your custom screen from the drop down options and order in the normal way.  If you have chosen a RAL colour, let us know via an email your choice of colour.

Customisable screens will go into build once the order is placed.  Please note lead times will depend on choices made but in almost every case your screen will be ready in 8 weeks.  Note as a customised product, these orders cannot normally be cancelled.

Tech Specs

Our screens are manufactured in house at OE Spec to accurately reproduce the original screen whilst improving some key but hidden points so you get a totally original look but upgraded performance.

Your screen frame is made from high quality brass extrusion as per the original cars.  We use custom made machinery to accurately bend the screen sections to the authentic and correct shape.   Some of the screens on the market are not properly shaped, particularly in the scuttle area.

Original screens use 4 brass brackets hidden inside to assemble the screen and as a mounting point for the stanchions.  OE Spec screens use identical brackets but these are upgraded to CNC machined stainless steel.  This reduces the problem of threads stripping out and is a much stronger and more accurate option whilst retaining a totally original look from the outside.

The stanchions are also made in chrome plated brass as per the original but are CNC machined for much greater accuracy and a higher quality finish.  Stanchion legs have predrilled pilot holes to make mounting to your cobra chassis easier.  The legs are also radiused on the ends to ease dropping the screen into place through your escutcheon plates.

All visible fixings are visually identical to the originals with slotted dome heads, but have been upgraded to modern stainless steel with metric threads.   Fixing lengths are correctly sized so that it is not possible to crack the glass unlike some other screens on sale.

Screens and stanchions are polished and chrome plated in the UK at an automotive specialist plater, or where specified are powder coated in either black or optionally in a custom RAL colour of your choice.

Other screens usually have the rubber gasket trimmed with a knife to produce the frame to glass joint.  This often results in a very poor uneven finish.  OE Spec screens are built with a proper chamfered glazing gasket that we have had custom tooled.  The result is a far better finish and visual appearance.  The gasket material is correctly specified to be UV stable for long term mechanical performance and appearance.

Rebuild Kits

OE Spec screens are designed to be easily rebuildable should your glass get chipped or cracked.  The glass is installed with a custom made one piece gasket, and the screen sections are screwed together with stainless fixings which can be easily accessed with the screen removed from the car.

We sell a rebuild kit with replacement glass of your choice, fixings and new gasket and full instructions.  This is a job that can be completed by any competent installer. 

(Please note we cannot guarantee that this kit would fit other manufacturers screens.  Our screens are very carefully made to ensure the glass fits properly).

Screen Collection & Delivery

Unfortunately windscreens cannot be insured through shippers due to them being glass.  We offer some options to get your screen to you.  Any of the following options can be selected at checkout for normal UK locations.  For overseas/remote UK we can still get your screen to you, please message us for a quote at admin@oespecplus.com 

1. You are welcome to organise to have your screen collected.  Your screen will be boxed which will help to reduce the risk of damage.  HOWEVER, please be clear that this is at your risk if damage occurs during transit.
2. Your screen can be collected free by appointment from one of 2 locations in the UK. (either Winsford area or Welshpool area)
3. We will, by appointment, travel up to 100 miles from either of those locations to  meet you/deliver your screen for a £100 fee.  You can select this option at checkout
4. Crated delivery.  We will pack your screen in its box, into a customised timber crate, and ship via a pallet delivery service.  This is a very strong packaging option but it cannot be insured.  Please note that this option is at your own risk.
