Re-engineered in stainless steel to visually replicate the original Ford FE brass expansion tanks fitted to Galaxies and Thunderbirds whilst using modern manufacturing methods to far exceed the quality and longevity of the original tanks.
This product is designed to allow you to install an FE style tank onto the Windsor small block Ford engine fitted to a Cobra with a right hand upper hose outlet as per the original car. If you have a left hand outlet, please see our standard FE/Windsor kit.
The kit comes with our Cobra FE stainless steel tank, and a billet aluminium adaptor kit that allows for a direct bolt up of the FE tank to the Windsor manifold.

Installation Instructions
Installation
The adaptor creates clearance for the tank to most distributors of 110mm diameter cap and under, and redirects the thermostat bypass hose to create clearance. Note that you may need to modify/swap the rubber bypass hose depending on your installation. The adaptor is CNC machined from billet and satin black powdercoated for a great long lasting look.
OE Spec+ Cobra header tanks are manufactured to suit a Cobra installation. The tank is set 25mm lower to clear the hood whilst still leaving room for vacuum advance distributors and the radiator hose. The inlet and outlets are correctly positioned to match an original Cobra tank.
Tech Spec
The main tank body, inner level plate, inlet and outlet are made from 1.2mm (16 gauge) 304L stainless steel. The inlet manifold flange is machined from 10mm (3/8") stainless steel with the larger 63mm (2.5") thermostat recess for improved flow.
The bracket thickness has been upgraded to 2mm (12 gauge) stainless steel from the original 1.2mm mild steel, to prevent any movement leading to hairline cracks developing.
The whole assembly is then laser welded on a jig to ensure accuracy and a permanently leak free tank. Each tank is pressure tested before leaving the factory.
Tanks are finished in a satin black polyester powdercoat to match the original factory paint whilst providing much better resistance to degrading/flaking.
Optionally we can supply the tank in raw stainless for customers who wish to either polish the tank or finish to their own colour. Raw tanks also include a 3/8" outlet spigot pipe that can be welded by the customer into their chosen location. This was commonly fitted to original cars to help air burp into the expansion tank from the top of the radiator.
